Sermons inspire, but Scripture is inspired. Preachers motivate, but the Spirit moves. We want to preach the Word with humility, being wary of the pitfalls of topical preaching, proof-texts, and legalistic application. . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . our doctrine >>

Following the historic CHURCH CALENDAR from Advent to Pentecost ensures that we cover the basic principles of Scripture every year. Instead of preaching on hot topics, which can turn the Bible into a self-help manual for our own agendas, we let our sermon series be shaped by doctrine. Yet it is amazing how the Spirit applies these predetermined passages to our ongoing crises.
Reading the WHOLE NARRATIVE of Scripture helps to prevent the isolation of a passage from its larger context and thus inferring something that is not there. So before the sermon, we read aloud two passages from the Old Testament and two from the New. The main text is preached in relation to others.

Every sermon ends with an opportunity to SUBMIT TO THE SPIRIT. Specific application points often bog us down with more to do to feel "spiritual." Instead, preachers here invite us to submit to God's word in silence and respond personally with confession of sin, a pledge of obedience, or sheer praise.
